Local hip hop, British rock and offbeat comedy: SXSW announces third round of showcasing artists
The third round of SXSW showcasing artists was announced this morning, and the batch of bands is diverse and doesn’t disappoint.
The list includes cult favorites like Magnetic Fields and Imperial Teen alongside indie acts like Stars and Blitzen Trapper, plus plenty of bands we’re psyched to see on an official showcase, like Beach Fossils and Tilly and the Wall (below).
There are also a few comics announced, part of SXSW Comedy’s expanded eight night lineup. The list includes Michael Lawrence, Ari Shaffir and Conan writer / character humor genius Andres du Bouchet (below).
Of course, Austin’s own are represented and the list of locals includes a few underground hip hop acts along with some folk, rock and classic country: Alpha Rev, The Calm Blue Sea, Dead Black Hearts, Creamers, Da C.O.D., Guy Forsyth, League of Extraordinary G’z, Li’l Cap’n Travis, Mother Falcon, My Jerusalem, Quiet Company, Ringo Deathstarr, The Ripe, Frank Smith, Stereo is a Lie, Strange Boys, This Will Destroy You, Ume, Wheeler Brothers, Carolyn Wonderland and Zorch.
